Picture A Hero

Susan, Charlotte and Hannah Rose Shogren Smith have traveled around the United States photographing the country for several years.  After traveling through 49 states, we have come to appreciate the beauty of our country and the kindness of the people we meet. 

We are so thankful we live in the United States and understand that the freedom we cherish has been protected by generations of men and women who believe in all this country represents to its citizens and to people around the world.

Susan, Charlotte and Hannah Rose decided to channel their photography interest in a way that supported the amazing service members that serve our country. 

We created Picture A Hero, a non-profit organization, to offer individual and family portraits to members of the United States Military who are preparing to deploy.

Since June, 2010 Picture A Hero has provided portraits to more than 6000 members of the United States Military. The portraits provided have included individual portraits of the service members, portraits of the service members with each of their family members alone and with the service member and also family portraits.  Picture A Hero has also provided portraits to well over 11,000 parents, husbands, wives, children, siblings and other significant people in the service members' lives. 

Picture a Hero provides us the opportunity to share our love of photography with others in a meaningful and lasting way.

We hope that our portraits provide service men and women and their families some comfort while they are apart.
